When it comes to getting your hands on an xtra-awesome Xtracycle cargo bike, the preferred way is to go through an official top rate Xtracycle dealer. Our dealers are the bee's knees and excel at being friendly and knowledgeable, which will make your experience getting set up and ready to roll all the better. No dealer in your area? No problem - we got you! We can work with you and your chosen local bike shop to get you ready to go on your new set of wheels.
Our bikes ship unassembled, and have to be built from the ground up. That’s right, you can’t just cut a hole in the side of the box and pedal the bike out of it. Building an EdgeRunner is challenging for novice mechanics, and we don’t recommend trying it at home unless you have a lot of experience and the skills to prove it.
Your #1 best option is to buy your bike through one of our authorized dealers. They are well-equipped to help you with the process. Take a gander at the dealer locator on our website to find a shop near you that sells Xtracycle.
If you go through a dealer, all the heavy lifting is done for you. You’ll pay the retail price of the bike plus tax, and the dealer will cover shipping fees and assemble the bike for you. I’m sure the advantages are unfolding before you right now:
· No shipping charges
· No assembly fees
· No hauling a giant bike box to your local bike shop
· Bike gets professionally assembled by mechanics whose first rodeo this is not
· All dealers offer test rides - you can try before you buy
Basically, it saves you money and time. And of course, we like to think that our dealers are some of the best bike shops in the country.
What if there’s not a dealer anywhere near me? We totally get that this is an issue in some parts of the country, and we’ve got your back. We developed our Ship-to-Shop program for this exact scenario. If there’s not an Xtracycle dealer within 25 miles of you, we’ll ship a bike directly to your local shop for free. You’ll still have to cover assembly fees which are anywhere from $50 - $150 depending on the bike ship. Call your bike shop to inquire! Don't have a good bike shop in mind? Drop us an email at email@example.com and we can help you find a highly rated bike shop in your area. We will then give them a call to see if they are up for the fun of putting an Xtracycle together so we can make sure they are the right shop for the job. You can read more about the Ship-to-Shop program here.
Can I shop the bike to my front door? Technically, yes, but we don't encourage it. Basically, if you buy a bike online and ship it to your house, a gigantic box of bike parts is going to get dropped off on your doorstep. You’re gonna have to either tackle the job of building it yourself, or find a way to haul it your local bike shop for assembly. You'll have to pay shipping costs, and you’ll also need to pay the bike shop to put it together.
